This stunning, solid wood, drop front secretary desk was a labor of love! Exuding true vintage style, this piece has curvy (serpentine) drawers and claw feet. The drop front opens to reveal a row of 6 cubbies on the top, 3 drawers along the bottom, and a door with additional cubby storage behind it. On each side of the door compartment, there are beautiful carved wood details. 
 
All of the veneer has been removed from the desk. In addition to lifting veneer, the drop front was previously very warped. The entire piece has been sanded down to raw wood with loads of character. After sanding, it was given a paint wash featuring Country Chic Paint's Driftwood. The cubbies have been painted in Wise Owl Paint's Black - with the exception being the drawers, which were also washed in Country Chic's Driftwood. The cubby drawer and door knobs are original and have been painted in black to match the drawer hardware. The original drawer pulls have been replaced with new black hepplewhite pulls. The dovetailed drawers glide smoothly, and the inside of the drawers have been refreshed with an unscented furniture tonic from Wise Owl Paint.
There is a decorative keyhole cover and lock at the top of the drop front piece. The back wall of the inside of the desk has been painted in Wise Owl's Black to match the cubbies. All of the drawers and the door in the cubby area are functional for storage. Two arms extend on either side of the desk for extra support when the front comes down, retracting when the desk front goes back up. The desk has been sealed with a water-based satin polyurethane, which gives it a wonderful sheen. Please note that the back side of the desk has not been painted because it is intended to flush up against a wall. It has been replaced with a new piece of wood.
 
This piece would be a marvelous addition to any space and would make excellent additional storage as well. Available for pickup in Windham, Maine.
