This gorgeous chippendale-style drop front secretary desk got a complete overhaul! Bordering between vintage and antique, secretary desks were almost as popular as cedar chests used to be. The look of a secretary desk is unmatched and unmistakable. Manufactured with a slanted, drop front and serpentine drawers, this solid wood (mahogany) beauty has been painted in a combination of Country Chic Paint's Hollow Hill, a deep and evocative green color, and Cheesecake- the perfect creamy, antique white. The outside of the desk is painted in Hollow Hill. With a slightly cool undertone, this rich shade of green is perfect for adding a sense of depth and drama to any space- and this piece commands the attention of its audience.
 
Open the drop front to reveal the original set of cubbies -  functional shelves, 2 drawers and a door - that have been painted in Cheesecake, which ties in beautifully to the botanical pattern on the back wall. Above the writing surface and the cubbies, you'll find a bookcase/hutch with original fretwork, shelving and beautiful glass doors. The hutch has been completed in a two-tone look, using Hollow Hill on the outside and opening to the creamy Cheesecake color, paired with the same lovely botanical print. The shelves are removable if you wish to have more open space inside the hutch area. All 3 of the serpentine drawers on the desk are clean and glide well.
 
The pulls on the drawers have been updated with new bail pulls painted in oil-rubbed bronze. The hardware inside the desk and on the doors of the hutch is original, and has been painted to match the pulls on the drawers.  A key is provided for the drop front, though it is more for looks than functionality. Due to the age of the desk, the locking mechanism no longer lines up exactly. The entire piece has been sealed in a water-based satin polyurethane for the perfect sheen.
 
This incredibly stunning and functional piece could be used in a number of spaces in your home. The popularity of the secretary desk has returned, and people are getting super creative about how and where they can be used. Certainly, it could be utilized as a command station for the family - organizing bills and other important documents while hiding it all when you're done for the day. Alternatively, secretaries can be incorporated into other rooms - bedrooms, kitchens, and even bathrooms - for additional storage and added sophistication.
