This vintage Queen Anne-style cedar chest has been beautifully updated! For starters, we removed the veneer from the top of the chest and sanded it smooth. Using Country Chic Paint's Driftwood, we applied a paint wash to even out the varying toned and colors of the wood grain.
After several repairs to the legs, drawer, and body, we painted the body and legs of the chest in Deep Sea, a stunning navy blue by Dixie Belle Silk. We removed the old hardware and filled the scalloped detail in the front, filling the old hardware holes and drilling new ones.
Updated champagne bronze ring pulls adorn the 5 faux drawers on the top of the chest. The functional drawer on the bottom has been rebuilt and lined with a white and gold geometric print while updating vintage knobs with fresh paint to match the upper hardware. The entire chest is sealed in satin polyurethane.
The inside of the cedar chest has been completely refreshed with cedar oil and smells fantastic. The drawer on the bottom glides with ease and is a great space for additional storage. While the lock is intact, the latch on this chest has been removed for child safety. Although we were unable to locate a maker's mark, this chest most closely resembles one manufactured by West Branch Novelty Co. Please note: the back right leg has a small piece missing from the foot, which cannot be seen when up against a wall. This does not affect the functionality of the piece in any way.
