This stunning antique oak washstand cabinet has been given a whole new look! The top had some cracks and had loosened from the base. To properly fix the problem, the top was removed in its entirety and then glued and clamped as needed. Once the glue had fully cured, the top was reattached with fresh wood glue and new finish nails.
 
 
 
The inside of the cabinet also needed some attention. A new piece of wood was cut for the bottom and reinforced on the underside to provide additional support. After the repairs were completed, the entire washstand was scrubbed clean, then sanded down to raw oak. A custom paint wash was applied, giving it a rustic but modern look. The piece was sealed in a satin polyurethane for long-lasting durability. 
 
 
 
The original bail pulls were reinstalled on the drawer, and they look lovely against the new finish. The inside of the drawer was lined with a fun botanical jungle print. The drawer opens and closes with ease, and the wood inside has been refreshed with an unscented furniture tonic.
 
 
 
An antique bronze knob was installed on the cubby door, along with a magnet to help keep the right door closed. The left door stays closed well with an original screw and latch. The washstand sits on its original wood caster wheels, which work well for rolling it. 
 
 
 
This piece would be beautiful in any number of spaces, including an entryway, mudroom, or even as an oversized nightstand next to a tall bed.
