This beautiful antique pine dresser dates back to the late 1800s, as evidenced by the drawer joinery. Once considered a piece of "Victorian cottage furniture" with intricate painted flowers in bright colors, it had been covered over in sloppy layers of thick paint.

The dresser was stripped down to bare wood and sanded with many different grits of sandpiper to achieve a more smooth, even look. The sides of the drawers have been sanded down to remove excess paint and allow the beautiful pin and cove joinery to shine through.

The drawers have been lined with a simple but beautiful floral print. They have been refreshed with an unscented furniture tonic and glide smoothly. Original wooden knobs from another salvaged piece were hand sanded to match the new finish.

The entire piece has been sealed in a water-based satin polyurethane to help protect the dresser and keep it from yellowing. This dresser has tons of character, and though it isn't perfect, it has great bones, and its imperfections tell its story. It would be fantastic in a smaller space as a dresser or even as an oversized nightstand.
