This beautiful, solid mahogany drop leaf table was built in the style of empire furniture - with claw feet and rounded drawer fronts, it is quite old in age. The top of one of the feet had been chewed substantially by someone's pet, and the veneer on the drawer fronts was broken and peeling. After repairing the damage to the claw foot and the drawers, this table got a super unique update.
For added visual interest, wood appliques were installed to both sides of the table that surround the drawers. The top was sanded back to raw wood and stained with Red Mahogany (Behr). The body and drawers have been given a blended ombre look using shades of purple that fade into a charcoal black. The nails on the clawfeet have been painted gold, along with the keyhole covers and original knobs on the drawers. The drawers boast hand-carved dovetails and a clean, mahogany interior.
The entire piece has been sealed with a water-based satin polyurethane. For extra tabletop space, the drop leaves lift up and stay in place using wooden arms that swing out underneath the leaves. This table would be an amazing conversation piece, and excellent for any smaller space that is missing something special. In an entryway, it would be the perfect catchall for your keys.
