This beautiful antique washstand cabinet is made of solid wood with lovely grain that was hiding under a combination of what appeared to be old paint and wax. After stripping the cabinet, it underwent several rounds of sanding and a super deep cleaning. Next, the body and drawers of the washstand were sealed in a satin polyurethane to protect and preserve the gorgeous wood grain.

The drawers boast knapp joints, which are not only beautiful to look at, but indicate that this piece was likely made sometime between 1870 and 1890. The insides of the drawers and cubby area were refreshed with a lightly scented lemon verbena tonic and the drawers were waxed to ensure that they glide with ease. A blue and white print lines the insides of the drawers. Somewhere along its life, the washstand lost one drawer, so it has been replaced with a new woven seagrass basket for additional storage.

The knob on the door is original and has been sanded down to match the aesthetic of the cabinet. Wood knobs salvaged from another refinished piece of furniture were sanded down to finish off the look. Though petite, this piece would easily add beauty to any space with its neutral tones.
