This striking mid-century Lane cedar chest has gotten a beautiful update in Midnight Blue by Fusion Mineral Paint. A rich navy blue that borders on the cusp of black in certain lighting, this color pairs perfectly with the new wood legs on the chest. Manufactured on Valentine's Day in 1955, the base of the chest was  broken and likely exposed to water at some point. Thankfully, the base was screwed into the bottom of the chest, and replacing it with a new wooden base was a great compromise to keep the mid-century look. 
 
The outside of the cedar chest has been sealed in a satin polyurethane, while the inside has been refreshed with cedar oil. The original lock and latch have been removed for safety, and the fold down "shelf" has been lined in a beige and white botanical print. This piece is solid and quite large! It would look fantastic at the foot of a bed, under a window, or possibly even as a coffee table with a larger sofa. The back side of the chest is also painted, and the original silver hinges have been cleaned up.
