🐎 This lovely vintage waterfall style chest is a Virginia Maid by Lane brand. It has been painted using the color Dark Horse, a deep and moody espresso brown (Melange Paints). The damaged veneer on the base was removed and has been given a custom paint wash to mimic a warm brown stain. The same paint wash was applied to the detailed trim work above the base and at the bottom of the lid of the chest.
🐎 The shelf inside the chest has been lined with a beautiful green and blue tropical leaf pattern that complements the deep brown color as well as the tone of the wood inside the cedar chest.
🐎 The inside of the chest has been refreshed with cedar oil. The entire piece has been sealed with a satin polyurethane for just the right sheen. The inside of the chest is in great condition, especially for its age. The chest measures 42" wide, 18" deep, and 19½" high. For child safety reasons, the lock is intact, however; the latch has been removed. The back side of the chest has also been painted, so it could be used as a coffee table in front of a sofa. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece with plenty of storage. Available for pickup in Windham, Maine, near the high school.
