**SOLD**
This antique walnut washstand cabinet has incredible original details that are much too good to mess with! This piece has been lightly refinished and boasts beautiful solid walnut wood grain, hand cut dovetailed joinery, a scalloped skirt around the bottom, and so much more! The lock on the cabinet door works like a charm with its original skeleton key. The left door closes first, using a swinging latch at the top to secure it in place, followed by the right door closing with the lock and key. The lock on the drawer no longer exists.
The drawer alone is filled with character - the keyhole cover has a bit of wear, but the original carved drawer pulls are in fantastic condition. The drawer opens and closes well for a piece of its age, and when you remove the drawer, you can see the dowels that pull out on the sides of the cabinet for hanging small linens. The inside of the drawer has been lined with a modern tan and white geometric print, while the inside of the cabinet space has been refreshed with a lightly scented lemon verbena furniture tonic.
The back splash is removable if desired. The cabinet sits atop original metal caster wheels, which are also in excellent condition. This piece is on the smaller side but quite solid and heavy for its size. It would be great in an entryway or a smaller space where you might need extra storage. It has been sealed in an oil-based polyurethane for extra durability and a bit of sheen.
