This beautiful antique blanket chest has been sanded down to raw wood and outfitted with new trim work along the bottom edges. It sits low to the ground on four rubber bumpers, hidden by the trim surrounding the chest. Likely crafted by hand, this piece features hand forged nails, brass hinges, and brass handles on each side. It is apparent that at some point during its life, some of the hardware was replaced, and the locking mechanism was removed from the chest. 
The top opens nicely and stays up with a chain. The inside of the chest has an incredible patina and is clean as a whistle. It also contains a small wood compartment on the left side. Sealed with a satin polyurethane, this piece is full of character and charm. It would be fantastic at the foot of a bed or even as a coffee table in front of a larger sofa.
