✨️This lovely, antique serpentine oak dresser has been saved from a life in the landfill! Upon sourcing the dresser, it was covered in remnants of old yellow paint, missing most of its hardware, and it had some drawer issues.
✨️ After stripping the remaining yellow paint, the damaged veneer was removed from both sides of the dresser. The drawers, hat box door, and body of the dresser are made of solid oak, so they were sanded down to raw wood with multiple grits of sandpaper.
✨️ Once the veneer was removed from the sides, the sides were also sanded down to raw wood. New drawer bottoms were cut, and the necessary repairs were made to get the drawers working properly.
✨️ After several deep cleans, the dresser received a paint wash in a custom mix. (The paint wash evens out the varying tones of the wood). A refresh on the wood inside the dresser included using a combination of lemon verbena salve and unscented furniture tonic to add moisture back to the old wood.
✨️Finalizing the look with a water-based satin polyurethane, new gold hardware has been added to the drawers, and the original keyhole covers have been updated in gold paint and reinstalled. A beautiful green and white floral pattern lines each drawer.
✨️ This stunning, curvy, solid oak dresser truly has been brought back to life. It would make an amazing statement (and storage) piece in any style home. They don't make furniture like this anymore!
