This beautiful antique pine chest of drawers has been completely stripped of its former finish. The original hand-painted finish was cracked and failing, so showcasing the gorgeous pine wood underneath made perfect sense. After a good finish sanding and deep clean, the dresser was sealed in a few coats of satin polyurethane to protect the wood grain and add a little bit of sheen. The original carved walnut pulls were cleaned and replaced, giving this piece a modern but rustic look.
The drawers boast hand-carved dovetailing and the dresser frame is built with forged square-head nails, dating the chest back to the late 1800s or early 1900s. Each drawer has been lined with a pretty floral print, and the drawers open and close well for the age of the dresser. Though there is not a key for the locks, 3 of the drawers have original lock hardware and the 4th (bottom) drawer has an original decorative keyhole.
This chest would be gorgeous in any space and is ready for its next 100 years. Available for pickup in Windham, Maine, near the high school. Please see detailed measurements below:
