This lovely, medium-size antique pine chest is full of charm! This piece was built with dovetail corner joints and hand forged nails. It has been sanded down just enough to preserve the charm it acquired over the years. Sealed in a satin polyurethane, the trunk offers beautiful, warm wood tones. The sides have original heavy-duty metal handles to assist with transportation. Inside, a chain has been added to help the lid stay open. 
 
The bottom of the chest was built with multiple boards running from the front of the piece to the back, mimicking a beadboard-style pattern. The inside offers plenty of storage, including a small compartment on the right side. The entire inside of the chest has been refreshed with an unscented furniture tonic to add moisture back into the wood. Though this piece does not have a key, it does have an original lock and latch.
 
The back side of the chest has been left original and reads "H.G.S. 1903". It can be assumed that these might have been the initials of the craftsman who made the chest, along with the year it was made. This piece sits on 4 corner blocks of wood and is trimmed with a simple design along the bottom edge.
It would be fantastic at the foot of a bed, under a windowsill, or in a nook and is certain to add personality to any space!
