This stunning antique 4-drawer pine dresser has gone from a worn finish to a beautiful natural pine wood look! It is chock full of character and perfectly imperfect in such a special way. After removing the glove boxes from the top of the dresser, the dresser was sanded down to raw wood. It was then given a very thorough cleaning and a few repairs to replace some missing drawer glides, as well as some wood filler where the glove boxes had left nail holes. The dresser then got a custom paint wash and was sealed with water-based satin polyurethane and wax for a natural, timeless finish.
The drawers consist of hand carved dovetails in the front and hand forged nails in the back, dating this piece to approximately the late 1800s or early 1900s. The drawers glide with ease and are complemented by wooden knobs in the same style finish.
The insides of the drawers have been lined with a lovely neutral floral print and have also been refreshed with an unscented furniture tonic to refresh the wood and help prolong its life. The drawer bottoms are a medium thickness, and the top of this piece is a rather thick slab of pine, adding to the sturdiness of the piece. The back side of the dresser is made of original, thick, vertical slats and you can see that it has been refinished a few times in the past based on the evidence of blue and white paint (this doesn't show when up against the wall). Check out the last photo to see the dresser paired with an available set of nightstands!
