This beautiful Lane cedar chest was manufactured in 1934. When it came into our possession, a chunk was missing from one of the feet. The top was completely scratched up and was missing some pieces of veneer. Overall, though, the bones were good. We recreated the missing part of the foot using a mold and reattached it to the existing, original foot. After making the necessary repairs, we sanded down the top and the entire chest got a good cleaning. We custom mixed a beautiful navy blue from Country Chic's Peacoat and Wise Owl Paint's Nautilus and used it on the body of the cedar chest. The top and feet were stained in Antique Maple, a rich and warm tone that complements the navy color perfectly. The whole chest is sealed in a satin polyurethane. The cedar chest has an additional storage cubby attached to the inside of the top. This can be removed if desired, but is great for housing extra items. The inside of the chest has been refreshed with cedar oil to reinvigorate the scent. The lock is intact, however; the latch mechanism has been removed for safety reasons. Imagine this chest at the foot of a bed, underneath a window, or in a nook where you might need some extra storage and a pretty piece of furniture! Measures 48" wide, 19" deep and 22" high.
